1 Thessalonians: Ch 1 'We give thanks to God always for you all'
The apostle Paul came to Thessalonica in the course of his second journey. He reasoned in the Jewish synagogue on three sabbaths and soon had a multitude of Jews and Greeks listening to his message. However the unbelieving Jews stirred up a riot and Paul was quickly sent away from the city. Shortly afterwards, unable to return, he wrote 1 Thessalonians, one f his earliest epistles, to strengthen and encourage this young ecclesia which was still undergoing persecutions and trials. The Spirit has preserved his epistle so that we also can be strengthened and encouraged as we wait the coming of the Lord - one of the great themes of this letter.
